1965 Land Rover 109 Series IIA
This 1965 Land Rover 109 Series IIA 4×4 is powered by a 2.25L gasoline inline-four starts easily and pulls the truck beautifully. Engine is mated to the original four-speed transmission, which shifts without issue. Truck has high and low range transfer case, as well as both 2WD and 4WD. This long wheel-base truck wears all of its original Sheetmetal and paint it was born with. The whole vehicle was cleared inside and out with PPG to shine and preserve the original patina it has collected since 1965. The 16″ Inch steel wheels have been refinished and carry MudStar Radial M/T tires. Spare wheels are mounted to its original dished hood and rear door, a red Hi-Lift jack is secured to the side of the roof rack, a period correct Axe is mounted on driver side front fender and a vintage John Deere shovel is mounted on the passenger side front fender. A factory winch is mounted on the front bumper. The removable roof rack has also been cleared with PPG.
Recently completed a full interior refurbishment and mechanical servicing. It has been driven about 700 miles over the course of the last 6 months. Most recent services included fluid changes, while spares include plug leads, wheel bearings, belts, hoses, gaskets, and filters. This early LR IIA comes with service receipts dating back to when it was new. Lots of service records which is very rare to see on these vehicles. The 2.25L OHV gasoline inline-four has also been serviced with a new battery, electronic ignition, generator, voltage regulator, water/fuel pumps, fuel tank sender. This set-up was rated at 74 hp with its original Solex carburetor. Truck retains all original sheet metal and no rust repairs to the chassis or bulkhead. Long-ago maintenance to the underside work completed by the previous owner included the following:
Axles / hubs rebuilt with new shafts, bearings, seals and gaskets
Fluids in all boxes and axles changed
New brake cylinders, shoes, lines, and master cylinder
Clutch master cylinder rebuilt and refinished
The non-overdrive 4-speed manual has a 55-60 mph comfortable driving speed. 4WD high and low range are working correctly. Shifts are good with no unusual noises or whines. The chassis was wire-brushed and coated with POR-15 Rust Preventive and painted. Outriggers and outer bulkheads are solid. It is ready to enjoy. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I can also assist you with great transportation rates right to your front door, all I need is your zip code to provide a price. Thank you for looking.
